Sponsored Silence at Sainsbury's Forestside raises £360 for Headway Belfast
Sainsbury's employee, Maura Brady who is renowned for being a bit of a "chatterbox" learned that silence is golden when she raised £360 for the charity just be keeping quiet.
Maura completed her sponsored silence on Friday 1st February at the Deli Counter in the Sainsbury's Store at Forestside where she works.
Maura's colleagues were delighted with the silence during the day as it's not often Maura is quiet!!!!
Headway Belfast is Sainsbury's Forestside Charity of the Year and the store works closely with the charity by providing funding opportunities and supporting events throughout the year. In return Headway Belfast work with staff by providing training and information on understanding brain injury.
Maura was delighted with how the sponsored silence went. "My colleagues were very pleased that I was seen and not heard for several hours!! Customers kindly supported me and were very generous with their donations. I enjoyed helping such a great charity by raising awareness of their vital services for survivors of brain injury".

Huge thanks to all the staff from Castlecourt Disability and Care Service who completed a number of fundraising events and activities over the last number of months.
The staff raised £700 from a coffee morning and went on to raise a further £1,800 from cake sales, book sales and an adventurous walk in the Mournes, raising an overall amount of £2,500. A massive well done and thank you to all those involved.
Deborah Bell, Jennifer Mullen and Leighann Martin came along to the Headway Belfast offices to make their cheque Presentation on the 31st October.
Here they are handing over the cheque to Gemma Ralston (Project Officer Volunteer Management and Training) with some of our service users taking a well-deserved break from their drama therapy.

Well done to Piers Dalgarno who recenly completed a charity skydive for Headway Belfast. Piers bravely took the plunge in August when he jumped out of a plane at 7,000 feet above the ground.
Piers said: "My link to Headway stems from an accident I was involved in, in July 2011, while cycling to work. I suffered a mild head injury and serious damage to my shoulder, neck and chest. The physical damage was visible and treatable; the psychological damage, however, was equally significant. Through Headway, I have been able to gain invaluable insight into the affects of head injuries, even those considered mild, which can have significant and lasting symptoms."
So far, Piers has raised an impressive £697, if you'd like to sponsor Piers you can still do so http://www.justgiving.com/PiersDalgarno-free-falling
