About us

We are a charity dedicated to enhancing and rebuilding the lives of people in Northern Ireland who are living with an acquired brain injury. We do this through delivery of:

  • Day service three days per week which offers art, drama, music therapy, group discussion and peer  support groups, exercise classes, use of on-site gymnasium and IT support
  • One to one neuro physiotherapy
  • Counselling service for survivors of brain injury, their families and carers
  • A community reintegration service which facilitates recreational and social opportunities in the community
  • Promoting understanding of all aspects of brain injury and increasing awareness of brain injury and its consequences

Brain injury is the biggest cause of disability globally with over 2,000 people affected in Northern Ireland alone each year. We facilitate 85 individuals affected by brain injury every week.

The organisation was established in 1999 and although we are affiliated with Headway UK, we are entirely responsible for generating our own income.

Unfortunately, it took over a week to diagnose the condition by which time I was brought into hospital very seriously ill and I spent over 2 months in hospital, with 2 weeks of that time being spent in a medically induced coma.
